Celebrating the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025

The United Nations recognizes Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 as International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Today, SWAM chapters across Canada proudly join communities around the world in celebrating the talents, achievements, and voices of persons with disabilities.

Roughly 1 in 6 people worldwide live with disabilities. That being said, people with disabilities and their families continue to face barriers that make it difficult to fully participate and progress towards certain social goals. For that reason, this year’s theme is fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress. Here at SWAM, we strive to create an accessible, inclusive and welcoming environment where every child can thrive. To us, swimming lessons are more than just a life skill, they are a place where we hope to inspire personal growth, confidence, happiness and a sense of community for every one of our swimmers!

Today and every day, let’s celebrate inclusion and help remove some of the barriers faced by people with disabilities in everyday life. Let’s build a community that is stronger together, where every child can participate and feel fully supported.

And to our SWAM Family: Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities!
